We all know that IB (International Baccalaureate) is difficult. We realise students need shortcuts with six classes, countless activities and hours, and seemingly unending IAs (Internal assessment) in addition to examinations!

In this blog, we’ve compiled some of the greatest IB tips for dealing with the workload!

Keeping a journal of CAS thoughts.

Instead of writing their CAS (Creativity, activity, service ) thoughts, students should record them on audio or video. Students should not waste time writing a great essay because they will need adequate documentation to prove that they participated in the activities they have described anyhow. By merely documenting these reflections, students can drastically reduce the amount of time they spend on them.

 Internal Assessments Scores

We’ve seen far too many IB students receive poor scores on their IAs while having excellent material. Their biggest blunder was failing to recognise that IB is quite specific about how an IA should seem. Solving  theorems in Math IA, for example, is essential, but so is demonstrating personal engagement or reflecting on why this proof was fascinating.

Drafts are essential.

To have the highest chance of success, a document should be as thorough as possible. Essays that aren’t finished aren’t useful. Only what they read may be marked and helped by the teacher! The advice students may obtain from their instructor, who has the ability to push the grade 4 to essay to 7, is a big benefit of offering a Comprehensive and Correct version.

Know how to use your calculator

A Math and Science student’s most important buddy should be the calculator. Countless students have shown us that they are more afraid of their calculator than they are friendly with it. Understanding and exploring the calculator’s full potential can save you a lot of time! Saving time on question after question will let students devote more time to the difficult questions at the conclusion, ensuring that they will perform better.

Making it a habit to revise

Students have so much time to revise that they are missing out on each and every day!  Listen to a podcast, scan over some note-based flashcards, or watch some IB videos. This will turn unused time in the calendar into productive time, putting the student in a strong position to ace the examinations.

Nothing should ever be left unanswered.

When it comes to the math marking system, students are not only awarded points for achieving the proper answer; they are also given points for method and tries to get the correct answer. It’s a fallacy to believe that not knowing how to approach a topic would prevent you from picking points. Even if the students have no clue what to do next, just attempting to substitute the right formula can help them get EASY points. Students might begin doing this with any questions they are unsure how to address. This method’s few points can make all the difference between passing and failing.

Try to keep these basic and straightforward tricks in mind as you progress through IB; we’re confident they’ll make your life simpler.
